KONA, 1962 H28, $14,000, Wickford, RI
KONA is an L. Francis Herreshoff-designed ketch, built by Irving Versoy at Faire Harbor Boats in Scituate, Massachusetts in 1962 and well cared for. Per a 2013 survey conducted by Jon D. Moore, “the construction technique using strip planking (1” mahogany) was executed in a very professional manner and included diagonal strapping and all the appurtenances of ‘Monoque’ construction. The vessel was completely sheathed in fiberglass as part of the original construction before she was put in the water. There is much to love about this boat!
