SAELAH is a classic Herreshoff Buzzards Bay 15 who moves with grace and speed. Always responsive, consistently thrilling, reliably smooth.
At more than 100 years old, she’s been known to melt a heart or two over the years. She’s a survivor too, one of only 29 known left in her class. Beautifully rebuilt and completely restored in 2004 by Master boatbuilder Warren Barker and his team at IYRS, she’s been lightly sailed by a loving owner in Maine.
Now offered for sale, she brings with her a custom-fit boat sail cover that uses soft ties through the scuppers for attachment and a removable bronze Spartan outboard bracket.

About the Buzzard’s Bay 15 Class
One of the most popular products of the HMCo, 92 boats were built to the design between 1899 and 1928. Company records tell us 29 have been found, 60 are unknown and probably not in existence, and 3 are known to have been destroyed.
The first eleven 15-footers came out at about the same time as the great Cup defender COLUMBIA, and because there was a family resemblance they were known for a time as “little Columbias.” The prevailing length-and-sail area rating rule of the day set the style, and resulted in boats with long, flat overhangs and shallow hulls. Designed for shallow-water anchorages, this class was given centerboards and relatively long keels drawing less than 3 feet of water.
